This is a pretty sound decision on their part. After all, this physical activity improves circulation while delivering a healthy dose of oxygen to the brain.</p>

<p>Enthusiast Rebecca Bardelli provided Yahoo{!} Sports five good reasons why yoga on the beach makes sense.</p>
<p>1. &quot;Practicing on an uneven surface like sand builds the secondary muscles in your feet, hips, knees and shoulder joints,&quot; instructor Sara Ivanhoe told Bardelli.</p>
<p>2. A few naturally relaxing sensations are found on the beach: the smell of salt on the air, the gentle touch of sand and the sounds of the ocean.</p>
<p>3. The crisp air and oxygen at the beach may help strengthen the immune system, boost metabolism and optimize serotonin levels in the brain.</p>
<p>4. Being out in the sun is a well-known method of warding off seasonal affective disorder.</p>
<p>5. You could tell your friends that you do yoga the same way that celebrities do it. Cinema stars Matthew McConaughey and Russell Simmons are known for practicing yoga on the beach.</p>

But if you&#039;re a typical American who&#039;s looking for ideas for weight loss plans, you&#039;ll want to soak up Hilton&#039;s latest soapy dish &#8211; he lost more than 70 pounds since he decided he needed to get fitter in 2008!</p>

<p>In typical Hilton fashion, he was more than happy to spill the beans on his weight loss secrets. Hilton told the magazine he did things the slow and steady old-fashioned way: healthy eating and plenty of exercise.</p>
<p>While Hilton has his meals custom made and delivered to him, he also exercises seven days a week. He includes a variety of activities, such as pilates, cycling and, of course, yoga!</p>

Not only do they have to cope with potentially troubled pasts, but they also face a future of uncertainty. They could really use the care and guidance of caring adults who refuse to let them be forgotten. Fortunately for the teens at the North Coast Youth Correctional Facility in Warrenton, there are plenty of volunteers that visit them and provide much needed help, including one who teaches Oregon yoga classes.</p>
<p>&quot;North Coast has an extraordinary staff who respect the youths and earn their respect in return. But as a volunteer, you earn a special kind of respect: Youths know you are doing this on your own time, you are doing it without pay, and you have something valuable to share with them,&quot; superintendent Dan Berger wrote for a column in The Daily Astorian.</p>
<p>He also noted that other volunteer mentors will play games, teach music and share newspaper clippings with the kids. The important thing is that adults spend time with them and let them know people care.</p>
<p>It&#039;s no wonder children in a correctional facility would benefit from yoga. These exercises have many potential health benefits, including improvements in mood, stress management and muscle relaxation, according to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, a division of the National Institutes of Health. Yoga is also useful for coping with depression and anxiety.</p>

Traditional treatments for these conditions may include medication or cognitive therapy, but patients may quit if they don&#039;t see quick results. However, new research suggests that yoga may be a suitable complementary treatment for depression and anxiety treatments.</p>
<p>This observation is based on an experiment conducted at the START Clinic for Mood and Anxiety Disorders in Canada, as reported by the Good Therapy blog. The trial included 31 individuals who were diagnosed with a generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), which may cause depression, panic and social phobias. These patients had been on traditional therapy and medication for two months when they enrolled in the experiment, during which they learned yoga breathing exercises for five days.</p>
<p>At the end of the study period, they showed improvements in the physical symptoms of GAD as well as levels of worry.</p>
<p>&quot;The integration of Eastern mind-body practices and Western medicine bodes well for alleviating anxiety symptoms in those suffering from serious remission-resistant GAD,&quot; said researcher Martin Katzman, as quoted by the blog.</p>
<p>His study is published in the International Journal of Yoga.</p>
<p>People who are looking for therapies to complement anxiety treatments should look into Oregon yoga classes. They&#039;ll find both supportive communities and sensitive, knowledgeable instructors.</p>

As noble as this is, some people don&#039;t understand the stress that comes with such a task. Not only are caregivers likely to put their lives on pause, but they have to deal with the burden of watching their loved ones struggle. Fortunately, scientists from the University of California, Los Angeles, discovered that yoga may help caregivers in coping with depression and anxiety.</p>
<p>The researchers conducted an experiment in which 49 caregivers were divided into two groups, each undergoing eight weeks of a 12-minute daily regimen. While one listened to relaxing instrumental music, the other practiced yoga.</p>
<p>Results showed that those who used the holistic healing technique experienced better improvements in depression symptoms. Furthermore, the cells in their bodies showed less signs of wear and tear related to stress.</p>
<p>&quot;To a varying degree, many psychosocial interventions like this have been shown to enhance mental health for caregivers,&quot; said researcher Helen Lavretsky. &quot;Our study suggests a simple, low-cost yoga program can enhance coping and quality of life for the caregivers.&quot;</p>

<p>An inquiring teacher wrote to Leanna Landsmann of the Detroit Free Press, wondering if the rumors about the benefits of yoga for school kids were true. Landsmann answered with a resounding yes!</p>
<p>Not only do kids improve their physical fitness, but they have a tool that helps relieve tension.</p>
<p>Landsmann cited various examples from across the U.S. In Florida, several schools were teaching autistic children how to use yoga to create a sense of calm. On the other side of the country, a couple of schools in California decided to teach yoga after one study suggested that the mind-body regimen was associated with better classroom behavior and test grades.</p>
<p>Furthermore, yoga is considered cost-efficient because it does not require any fancy sports equipment.</p>
<p>Landsmann closed her response by quoting a teacher she met: &quot;What&#039;s not to like about a program that can teach self-calming, reduce stress, improve circulation, flexibility, blood flow, digestion, respiration and posture?&quot;</p>

Individuals tend to want results as quickly as possible, but the problem with this mentality is that it may cause frustration or overexertion. However, one exercise can help increase people&#039;s focus and motivation for weight loss while increasing physical fitness: yoga!</p>
<p>This mind-body regimen can feel slow and deliberate, but it may not take much time for its benefits to become apparent.</p>
<p>Yoga helps improve posture &#8211; the mere act of being able to stand tall can feel empowering. Furthermore, deep breathing helps relieve depression and anxiety symptoms, thereby improving mental clarity.</p>
<p>The holistic healing technique can also provide much relief for the body aches associated with sedentary office work or other situations that require non-stop sitting.</p>
<p>&quot;Once you get over the hump of deciding to do a little yoga, you might actually feel inspired to keep going. When you notice the immediate benefits, your level of motivation will increase. Those who lived in a household dealing with alcoholism tended to live with both parents, but among single-parent homes, mothers tended to struggle more with alcohol.</p>
<p>Such circumstances may predispose children to mental health problems, abuse, neglect or future alcoholism.</p>

Researchers are trying to find the most effective weight loss plans for young people. One team of scientists discovered that an approach that gives young women from Oregon and Washington more autonomy can achieve positive results, as reported by TIME.</p>
<p>For the study, more than 200 girls, aged 12 to 17, were divided into two groups. One group received educational materials on weight loss. The other went through a behavioral program that included information on nutrition and access to exercise materials, such as exergames and yoga.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, parents underwent separate training on how to support their daughters. This is a shift from past strategies that focused on families as whole units.</p>
<p>Results showed that girls in the behavioral program had five fewer hours of sedentary screen time per day and consumed 240 fewer calories a day.</p>
<p>&quot;We purposefully set up the study not expecting people to have very dramatic and quick weight losses, but emphasizing different tools in terms of dietary changes and physical activity that we thought would be easy to include in every life, and which could be sustained over time,&quot; said senior researcher Lynn DeBar, as quoted by the news source.</p>

Because this mind-body regimen can alleviate depression and anxiety symptoms, one team of researchers decided to explore its possible benefits for individuals with atrial fibrillation (AF), as reported by Cardiology Today.</p>
<p>According to the American Heart Association, 2.7 million Americans live with AF, which causes abnormal heart rhythms and makes them more vulnerable to stroke. It can also be associated with depression and anxiety symptoms.</p>
<p>To evaluate the effects of yoga, the researchers conducted an experiment on 49 AF patients, who practiced yoga for 60 minutes twice a week for three months.</p>
<p>Preliminary results showed that participants had better scores for quality of life, elevated mood and fewer episodes of AF symptoms. The researchers speculated that this may be because of yoga&#039;s effects on blood pressure.</p>
<p>&quot;Yoga would be a good complement to the current AF patients&#039; therapeutic strategies,&quot; said researcher Dhanunjaya Lakkireddy, M.D., as quoted by the news source. &quot;With yoga, we are able to reduce the number of hospitalizations, increase quality of life and provide comprehensive care to patients with AF.&quot;</p>
<p>The researchers believe that other forms of stress relief, such as meditation, may also help.</p>
