Like many people I took my breath for granted. I’m alive and don’t have shortness of breath, I’m even a runner; there is no question that I am not breathing well, right? The fact is I was breathing but not deeply; I was not exhaling the stale air from my lungs and so could not bring in enough clean bright air. There are many benefits in learning to breathe well both physical and emotional as referenced in the following link http://www.ehow.com/facts_5641337_importance-deep-breathing-health.html and http://breathing.com/articles/oxygen-benefits.html. Thanks to Dahn Yoga I am now experiencing them.
When I stepped into the Dahn Yoga training room I was taking shallow breaths from my lower rob cage, the muscles in my neck and shoulders were so tight that I could not expand my lungs as much as I needed to. Breathing is a big part of class; after warming up and going through some meridian stretches the instructor guided us through a series of breathing postures http://www.livestrong.com/article/122854-dahn-yoga-exercises/ which helped me to bring my awareness back into my body instead of focusing on my shopping list. I felt my lungs open up and new energy circulate through my entire system. The feeling was exhilirating, http://breathing.com/articles/oxygen-benefits.html and it is something that I look forward to during any class I attend.
Now that I am breathing I am sleeping better, emotionally stable, and all around happier. For anyone looking for health, happiness, and peace I highly recommend these classes!

Education program offers greater personal growth beyond a master’s degree
Many people understand that higher education can provide a life balance to those who are looking for something more. Whether it's enrolling in a degree program or teaching others, education is a great way to keep the conversation moving in everyday society.
George Fox University's School of Education announced that it will offer an educational specialist (EdS) degree for people who are already employed in the field in Oregon but want to expand their reach to others through online learning.
This new program is a great option for those who have already received a master's in education degree but are looking to expand their knowledge. Individuals can complete the program in two to three years.
“The program should be attractive to MAT-prepared in-service educators, who now make up about 80 percent of the pre-service teachers leaving Oregon teacher educator programs and entering the PK-12 educational work force,” said Scot Headley, chair of George Fox’s Educational Foundations and Leadership department.

Body Brain Yoga helped me be present: I found what I was looking for; before I even knew I was searching
When you are a little kid it’s easy to know what you want and who you are; the world is all chocolate or vanilla. Then we start to grow up and away from the deeper meaning of ourselves. We develop the sense that there are these ominous things called decisions and consequently, mistakes. Some decisions lead to praise like finishing our home work on time. Some decisions bring ridicule: wearing a plaid shirt, polka dot shorts, and mismatching socks. Life becomes a long string of binary code- a series of yes or no questions: ask the cute guy on a date? Do I ask for the raise now or wait for my annual review? The sum of this algorithm begins building a new personality program, which we run over and over for the rest of our lives.
This code is the mechanism for our interpretation of the world around us and us within this world. We build ideas like public speaking is uncomfortable, I am not artistic/creative, or others are judging me negatively. Not all of these programs are necessarily detrimental or false but they are keeping us from seeing what is really happening. One term for this mechanism is preconception (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/preconceptions) some theologies refer to this as different minds or egos. So what’s the problem with preconceptions?
Well, when you are busy interpreting the world you are separated from life by a layer of thought and most of the time these thoughts are inaccurate. For example, how often have you misread someone’s tone of voice or an expression? After all, each person is running their individual program. For example do you see the word Good or Evil written below?
An excellent articulation of the impact this layer has on our lives is described by Eckhart Tolle in The Power of Now (http://www.eckharttolle.com/home/books/).
Luckily for me, I found Body Brain Yoga http://bodybrainyoga.com/. After a few months of practice I took one of the basic workshops called Shim Sung. http://www.dahnyoga.com/classes_services/basic_workshops/shim_sung. These two days have changed my life in the best of ways. One change was I was able to identify clearly for the first time, what some of my detrimental preconceptions were and where they came from. Seeing clearly the negative messages I was replaying in my mind gave me a skill with which I am now able to remove these detrimental thoughts.
Since Shim Sung I have been able to really live, in life-real life, not my internal commentary on what I am experiencing. This level of presence has allowed me to have a genuine connection with everyone in my life from my mother to the guy at the checkout counter. I also find that I have less chatter in my mind; this is really a help when meditating, as well as, truly listening to whomever I am speaking with. I am one step closer to being deeply at peace in my life.
And now I am off to class! I sincerely hope you are able to make every moment truly great.
Love and Light,
Katie

methodology
I have played golf for more than 30 years. I love it because it is a beautiful chance to connect mind and body through focused attention to a single goal: getting the ball in the hole. For me, playing golf is very much a metaphor for the process of life itself.
Recently, I gained some insight through the process of improving my game. For years I had been struggling to hit longer drives. The lengths of the shots were not so bad, about 230 yards on average, but I knew this was far short of the 300 or more yards that professionals hit. I kept wondering, “How do they do that? Why can’t I do that?” I played for so many years without hitting that mark that it started to seem impossible.
Then someone suggested a slight change in my swing. They suggested that I position my hips so that the weight of the hips would go into the swing, rather than relying on mere arm strength. I tried this, and I could feel the energy of my entire body transferring into the ball. Suddenly, the length of my drive jumped to 310 yards.
If you set a vision for your life, you are bound to come up against situations that seem impossible to overcome. Like me and my drive length, it may seem like you experience the same thing over and over again without making any headway. The key is to look very carefully at the habits you have and ask if they are really channeling energy in the right direction. In the case of my golf swing, only a very tiny adjustment made a huge difference, and the same might be true for your life. Previously I had mistakenly thought that I needed to hit the ball harder for it to go farther. Likewise, success in life does not always mean using more strength. Even very slight shifts in habit and attention can make all the difference.

Yoga Reviews
I came to realize that I had been too conscious of other people’s views of me. I put myself in a frame, telling my-self, “You must always look cheerful,” “You must be polite,” “You must be nice.” In a word, I lived in a frame of “dos and don’ts.”
Habitually punished myself. Now, I no longer disparage myself by comparing myself to others. I love myself the way I am. It is a wonderful feeling. Dahn Yoga believes it can help more people by being a successful business and makes no apologies for its business side. The plaintiffs and their lawyer have used brainwashing and cult allegations because they had hoped to generate media attention, which they have been using to pressure Dahn Yoga into paying them large sums of money.

One day while doing the Brain Wave Vibration exercise, I began to feel “another me” who was watching “me” who I always had been. The “old me” I was watching looked pathetic with lots of wounds from being kicked around in the course of life. I felt so sorry for myself that I cried out loud out of sympathy. And then I discovered there was something inside of me that made me distrust myself. That thing tried to make me believe that I lacked willpower and patience. The moment I realized the existence of such a negative element, it disappeared.

The Source of Intention
Aerodynamically, the bumblebee shouldn’t be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn’t know it, so it goes on flying anyway.
Mary Kav Ash, founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics
CAME INTO THIS WORLD wanting to be someone who makes things happen. From day one, you were a creation machine. You picked up objects in your tiny hands as soon as you could manage to grasp them. You fumbled them around in your hands, feeling their shape and texture, and even popped them in your mouth, wanting to know everything about the world around you.
As you gained knowledge of the world, you wanted to assert your influence over these objects. You pushed your bowl off the table, just to see it fall. You cooed and squealed, trying to understand the nature of your own voice. All your senses were open discovering the living world around you.
This same drive eventually pushed you up through your own developmental process as you experimented with your body And you eventually learned to walk and talk. All the while, magical events were happening in your brain—brain cells growing and connections developing.

Dahn Yoga on breathing
Dahn Yoga’s Meridian exercises combine proper breathing with various stretching movements. When breath is combined with body movement, metabolism can be influenced more effectively. In order to optimize the effects of meridian exercise, movement, breathing, and awareness must be harmonized. Start the movements while inhaling. Hold your breath for a moment while holding the posture and then exhale slowly while returning to the beginning position. The body should be centered at the lower Dahn-jon, or energy focus in the lower abdomen, and your consciousness should be attuned to the areas being stretched during the movements. When exhaling, imagine that the impure, stagnating energy in the body is leaving. Imagine you are having a conversation with the body and focus on the changes or sensations occurring in it.
