'Underworld' star Kate Beckinsale embraces yoga for weight loss.
The action movie genre can be difficult for female stars to break into. The field seems to be mostly male-dominated – Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Tom Cruise, Jackie Chan and so on. Bucking all trends, English actor Kate Beckinsale is set to star in Underworld: Awakening, the fourth entry in the franchise. The fact that Beckinsale practices yoga for weight loss and fitness on a daily basis definitely doesn't hurt her action-star credentials.
"I always hated the idea of it – yoga and golf are similar in that people can become obsessive and boring about it. I never thought that would be me, but I do feel a lot better [for doing it]," Beckinsale said in an interview with Australia's News Limited. "And a happy side effect is that it lifts my bottom."
Beckinsale's fit body allows her to share stunt responsibilities with her double. As proof of her physical prowess, she proudly brandished an inch-long scar on her leg, the product of not wearing long socks while training for an action scene, according to the news source
Hollywood vampire hunters are not the only ones who can benefit from yoga. People who are interested in Oregon yoga classes would be joining the 15.8 million Americans who have taken up the mind-body regimen nationwide as of 2008, as reported by the Yoga Journal.
